House Leaders Welcome Boeing to South Carolina

COLUMBIA, S.C. – S.C. House Majority Leader Kenny Bingham and House Minority Leader Harry Ott issued the following statements about Boeing’s decision to base a production line for the 787 Dreamliner in North Charleston.

“This is great news for the South Carolina economy and for our citizens.  This is the biggest economic development project in our state in 15 years,” said Rep. Bingham, R-Cayce.  “South Carolina’s leaders, in both the political and business worlds, came together to put our best foot forward.  Today’s announcement from Boeing shows that they believe South Carolina has the business climate, the resources, and, most importantly, the people needed to create a great company.”

“This means one simple thing for South Carolinians: Jobs,” Rep. Ott, D- St. Matthews said.  “A project of this magnitude will bring jobs not only to the Charleston area, but it brings an opportunity to spur job creation across the state.  The combined effort that was put forth to bring Boeing to South Carolina brings great hope for future business recruitment.  Getting people back to work should be our number one priority.”
