Taylor, Clemmons Re-elected to Caucus Leadership
COLUMBIA -- The South Carolina House Republican Caucus has unanimously re-elected Rep. Adam Taylor to be its Assistant Majority Leader and Rep. Alan Clemmons as Treasurer.
"This leadership team has been in place since 2004 and has done a great job assisting me in pushing our slate of conservative reforms," said House Speaker Bobby Harrell. "I am looking forward to working with Adam and Alan over the next year."
On a motion by Judiciary Chairman Jim Harrison, the Caucus added the elections to Tuesday's agenda without objection. Speaker Harrell called for the vote.
"I'm honored to have this position and to be re-elected by my fellow members in the Caucus," said Rep. Taylor. "I enjoy serving the Caucus and helping run our day-to-day operations with Jim and Alan."
Taylor, who represents Laurens and Greenville counties, is currently the Assistant Majority Leader and he previously served in the Caucus leadership as Secretary-Treasurer. He was elected to the House in 1998. He serves as Chairman of the Laurens County Legislative Delegation and is on the House Ways and Means Committee. Taylor is married and has three children.
"Serving in the Caucus leadership has been a great honor," Clemmons said. "I look forward to the tackling the legislative challenges our Caucus will face during the next two years."
Clemmons, who represents Myrtle Beach, is a vice-chairman of the House Judiciary Committee and was elected to the House in 2002. Before his election to the House, Clemmons served as chairman of the Horry County Republican Party. He works as a real estate attorney and is married with two children.
"I look forward to continue working with Adam and Alan to advance our conservative agenda," said Majority Leader Jim Merrill of Charleston. "This Caucus benefits from a strong leadership team as we have delivered on many major reforms since we were elected in 2004."
Merrill was also re-elected as Majority Leader during Tuesday's Caucus meeting.
