Caucus Press Release: Taylor, Clemmons Re-Elected to GOP Leadership

COLUMBIA -- The 74-member House Republican Caucus has unanimously re-elected Rep. Adam Taylor to be its Assistant Majority Leader and Rep. Alan Clemmons as Secretary-Treasurer.
"I am honored by the continued trust and confidence the Caucus has placed in me," Taylor said. "I'm looking forward to serve the Caucus and new Speaker Bobby Harrell."
Taylor, R-Laurens, is currently the assistant majority leader and he previously served in the Caucus leadership as Secretary-Treasurer and was elected to the House in 1998. He serves as Chairman of the Laurens County Legislative Delegation and is on the House Ways and Means Committee. Taylor is married and has three children.
"Serving with my fellow members has been a wonderful job," Clemmons said. "I look forward to the tackling the challenges of the next two years."
Clemmons, R-Myrtle Beach, is a vice-chairman of the House Judiciary Committee and was elected to the House in 2002. Before his election to the House, Clemmons served as chairman of the Horry County Republican Party. He works as a real estate attorney and is married with two children.
"I look forward to continue working with Adam and Alan to advance our agenda," said Majority Leader Jim Merrill, R-Daniel Island. "The Caucus stands firmly behind them."
Merrill was also re-elected as majority leader during Tuesday's Caucus meeting. The new Caucus leadership team will work with Rep. Bobby Harrell, R-Charleston, who will become Speaker of the House on June 21.
